The Virgin Mary on a Grilled Cheese Sandwich
Diana Duyser had a huge shock to find that the grilled cheese sandwich that she was about to eat looked a lot like the Virgin Mary: “I went to take a bite out of it, and then I saw this lady looking back at me,” she explains.
For the next nine years, the Virgin
Mary sandwich was left in Duyser’s freezer. In 2003, she decided to try her
luck and put the sandwich up for auction on eBay. The potential buyers were, of
course, warned the sandwich was “not intended for consumption.” The Golden
Palace Casino ended up buying the sandwich for a whopping $28,000.
