Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore and Brunelleschi’s Cupola
Known simply as, “The Duomo,” this massive cathedral is a must-see. Brunelleschi’s Dome dominates Florence’s skyline and the climb to the top is well worth it. Marvel first at the painting on the inside of the dome and then head outside for a sweeping panoramic view of the city. The Baptistry, one of the oldest buildings in Florence, dates to the 11th century and is adorned with Ghiberti’s bronze doors, the “Gates of Paradise.”
