7 Barbecue Mistakes that Even Experienced Cooks Can Make

Not cleaning the grill properly

If you skip out the grill cleaning process, your taste buds will suffer. The residue that accumulates on the grill over time will settle into every little crack of the grill grate. This can cause the meat to stick to the grill and tear of the perfect brown and crispy crust. When it comes to cleaning a grill, timing is key. The best time to clean the grate is right after you have preheated it. Before you start your barbecue, run the grill on high temperature for about 10 minutes with the lid closed. Then, use a hard brass brush to scrub the accumulation of ashy debris right off. If you don’t have a brush with brass bristles, you can use a ball of aluminum foil held with a pair of tongues.
