Nicholson decided to turn his hobby into a profitable investment by working
with Tod Volpe, a famous art dealer from New York. Considering himself quite an
art connoisseur, Nicholson was quite confident that he was making the right
decision when he gave Volpe $610.000 for the investment fund. The art dealer was
supposed to use the money to buy artwork and give Nicholson a share of the
profit. Unfortunately, Tod Volpe had other plans with Nicholson’s money. Volpe
never paid the actor back his scheme was uncovered eventually and he had to
spend 28 months in jail.
