How to Lucid Dream

Imagine having complete freedom to do what you want without any consequences, do you want to make out with Jon Hamm, fly, force choke your boss? Well, I’m happy to tell you that you can. Nothing is impossible to you. Now before you click away, shaking your head in disbelief, and I will tell you, that this is only in your dreams, I’m afraid. That’s where the no consequences come in. Lucid dreaming is when you are sleeping and you become aware that you are dreaming, aware that you have complete control. The movie Inception will probably explain a lot.

Here are eight ways to increase your chances of Lucid Dreaming.

Dream Journal

Keeping a journal helps you to not only remember your dreams but also to be aware when you are in them. It can also help you to see reoccurring symbols, so that in your dream, you will see them, and they may alert you to the fact that you are dreaming.  It’s very easy, all you need is a notebook, and just to write all you can remember as soon as you wake up.

Reality checks

To do this, you need to do frequent reality checks when you are awake, so it become normal behaviour. This should mean that you will do it in your dreams as well. Like looking at the clock to see if the time makes sense, as in dreams time probably won’t.  Or writing the letter A for awake on your hand, and in the dream the A should not be there, trying to remember how you got to wherever you are can also work, since most of the time in dreams there is no reason why you are in a certain place.

WBTB Method

This one isn’t that fun, since it involves you waking yourself up. I’m sorry. To do this set your alarm for 4-6 hours after you fall asleep, and then just lie really still and cosy in bedand think about the dream you want to have.

Vitamin B6

This vitamin has been known to help with recalling dreams and dream vividness. So, having more of it can increase your lucid dream chances. And you know what is high in Vitamin B6? Milk! You can settle yourself down with some milk and cookies before bed, how cosy does that sound? Carrots, avocadoes, and spinach are also rich in vitamin B6

Mantra

This one is surprisingly difficult. When lying in bed about to drift off, all you need to do is to repeat a mantra of your choice, maybe “I will lucid dream.” I say this one is difficult because the mind wanders, especially when you are relaxed.

These methods will definitely increase you chances of having the dream and adventure that you want. I’m so excited for all of you and can only imagine the cool things you’re going to do. Maybe eat as much chocolate as you want, or hug Winne the Pooh. You could even practice your Oscar acceptance speech. Happy dreaming!
